As an online retailer, I feel horrible that you had a bad experience
online.
But I'd like to say, in my own defense (and the defense of a friend of
mine), that there are honest people doing business on the Internet!
Please
don't let one bad experience deter you from shopping online. If you are
looking for a reliable store online, please check out my friend's shop

There are some things one can feel safe buying on-line. That's why
books, DVDs, etc., do so well. (Though used books can get iffy.)

But for something as important and personal as a tallit or a kiddush
cup, I would feel better seeing it in person if possible.

To follow up on my original post, we eventually gave up on on-line
shopping and made the trek to New York City. There are several stores
around 5th Ave and 35th Street, and we found a tallit in minutes.

For Wendy and the other on-line vendors: It was not dishonesty which
turned us away, but the uniformly poor quality on the web sites. The
pictures were often small, blurry, poorly lit, and showing only part of
the tallit.
